Eighth Annual BBVA Compass Bowl Set For Saturday, Jan. 4
The eighth annual BBVA Compass Bowl will be played Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today.
The game will feature a team from the American Athletic Conference (formerly BIG EAST) against a team from the Southeastern Conference and will be televised nationally at 1 p.m. (ET)/Noon (CT) on ESPN.
"We look forward to again hosting our game on the Saturday prior to the National Championship Game,” said Mark Meadows, Executive Director of the BBVA Compass Bowl. “Saturday games allow visiting fans the opportunity to travel to Birmingham over the weekend and gives local fans the opportunity to participate in all of the game-day activities."
In last year’s BBVA Compass Bowl, Ole Miss defeated Pittsburgh, 38-17, in front of a bowl-record crowd of 55,099 and generated an economic impact of $21.4 million for the Birmingham community.
Since its inception in 2006, the game and bowl week activities have generated over $80 million in economic impact according to figures provided by the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Tickets will go on sale Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at www.bbvacompassbowl.com. Ticket pricing will be $50 for East and West reserved sideline seating and $30 for general admission corner seats.
